Salem is definitely a spooky, haunted place, even today! Good research and good hub. What a shame. These people were wrongly accused and wrongly executed! MM

Ironic that there was an article on Yahoo news today saying that executions for Witch craft worldwise were on the rise. Strange that 300 years later and we still haven't learnt a thing. Good hub, I have always found Salem trials interesting.

I am always interested in reading about the salem witch trials. So unjust, but it just shows how easily people can be scared into hysteria and do unthinkable things such as hang innocent people. It also is proof that one must always be certain of fair and just trial. Thank you for the hub

Why is Constance Goodwife not mentioned here? She was the LAST person to die at the hands of the Salem witch hunters.

Many of these characters appear in my novel THE AFFLICTED GIRLS A Novel of Salem, winner of 2010 IPPY Silver Medal for Historical Fiction. I hope some here will consider reading it. (ISBN: 978-0-615-32313-8) Thank you.

how come not many men were witches

Pamela 8 months ago

Anna men weren't accused of doing witchcraft Back in the 1600' s because they were men. Only a couple did like John proctor. Thats why men were your faith leader then they were the houses crutch same goes with the reverend why didn't he get accused of witchcraft anyone could have been involved in witchcraft. witchcraft has been in my family for centuries I recently was introduced by my grandmama it's tradition to be introduced at the age 20 in my family. The stories my grandmama has told me about the Salem witch trials are awful, but in my family we hid my grandfather back in 1691- 1697 was a reverend then no one accused him so that's my point
